The Red Letters

ya know, too often i think we get caught up in the fast pace of our lives. there is a Rascal Flatts song in which they say, “sometimes it feels like this old world spins faster, than it did in the old days. so naturally we have more natural disasters from the strain of a fast pace. sunday was a day of rest, now its one more day for progress and we can’t slow down cuz more is best, its all an endless process.” then later on it continues, “sometimes i hear this old earth shouting through the trees as the wind blows. thats when i climb up here on this mountain to look through God’s window. now i can’t fly but i got two feet that get me high up here above the noise and city streets. my worries disappear.” too often i think we get caught up in our busy lives and our own agendas that we forget about the One this is all about. we forget about His agenda for our lives and we go on worrying about everything, when really, we have no need to worry because He has absolutely everything under His control.

in a book once, i read about a christian girl who didn’t know what to read in her quiet time, so a friend suggested she start in the new testament and read only the red letters. in other words, what Jesus had to say. i thought about it, and i decided to try it. it is really neat to be able to read, just what Jesus has to say, without knowing the whole story, maybe, but just His thoughts.

Pages filled with a holy message
Sealed with a kiss from heaven
On a scroll long ago
Phrases, words that were bound together
Now have the power to sever
Like a sword evermore
Heed the words divinely spoken
May your restless heart be broken
Let the supernatural take hold
There is love in the red letters
There is truth in the red letters
There is hope for the hopeless
Peace and forgiveness
There is life in the red letters
In the red letters
One man came to reveal a mystery
Changing the course of history
Made the claim he was God
Ageless, born of a virgin Mary
Spoke with a voice that carried through the years
It’s persevered

Heed the words divinely spoken
May your restless heart be broken
Let the supernatural take hold

What You say moves me, revelation, come and take me
The more I look the more I see
The Word of God is what I need
It’s the book of love
Speak to me, breathe in me new life
Let Him in your heart

good-bye blues

Well, it is officially the end of the school year. but let me back up a bit. banquet was awesome and our concerts were great. at awards nite, i got a certificate thingy for highest grade in band so that was cool. grad for the 12th graders was also the other nite. it was fun watching all of their excited faces and celebrating with them. but unfortunately, then come the good-byes. i have now found something about ukarumpa that i truly hate, other than the lack of malls, and that is the amount of good-byes one has to say while living in PNG. i have come to the conclusion that it is no fair. to live in such close proximity with all of your best friends, no matter wat the age, and then have to say goodbye and have them leave to go 9,000 some miles away. ITS NOT FAIR!!!! *sigh*

but it is break. and there is also the excitement of all of your friends coming back from furlough so its hard, because you don’t know whether to be excited or sad. three of my really good friends are coming back from furlough so i am happy about that.

it is just hard to be happy in the midst of sorrow but i know with Jesus, it is possible. but at least i get to sleep in and hang loose during break and just take a deep breath. sorry if this is a bit of a depressing entry….

fill me, Lord

with joy so sweet

that i dance

with happy feet

let my life

ring clear and true

reflecting what

i see in You

with arms outstretched

and reaching high

hear me rejoice

right through the sky

with sweet abandon

i will sing

and worship You

my only King
